VH Academy's Title IX Policy Against Sex DiscriminationStudents with Disabilities
VH Academy does not discriminate in admission or access to our program on the basis of age, race, color, sex, disability (physical & intellectual), sexual orientation, or national origin. VH Academy Administrator is responsible for coordinating compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
Applicants, who are persons with disabilities, as defined in paragraph 104.3(j) of the regulation under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, may apply for admittance into the program.
Any qualified individual with a disability requesting a reasonable accommodation shall provide the following prior to receiving the requested accommodations to the VH Academy admission for determination of disability:
- Current documentation of the specific disability
- Written request of accommodations and services provided for the disability
- Medical and other diagnostic documentation of the disability from a qualified physician
On your visit, a staff member will meet with you to discuss the services you may need and the procedures for setting up those services. Your disability information is maintained separate from your academic record in compliance with federal and state data practice laws. Remember, you are responsible for providing the admission office with current documentation, such as an IEP (Individual Education Plan), as it relates to your disability and the services you are requesting.
On the exterior of the facility, VH Academy is equipped with the proper handicap parking to non-handicapped parking ratio. VH Academy meets the space requirements as set forth by the governing rule of the Louisiana State Board of Barber Examiners. The facility consists of a reception area, clinic floor, office, classroom, restrooms, and break area. The clinic area consists of working stations where the students work on clients under the direct supervision of an instructor. The theory classroom consists of visual aids such as charts, video library, television, and dry erase board. VH Academy has a restroom and clinic area located on the first level to accommodate persons with disabilities. Entrance into the facility is also handicapped accessible.
We do realize, however, that all needs may not be met for those who are disabled. If there is an unmet need that we can remedy, please contact the VH Academy – Administrator during regular business hours to discuss measures to make our school a more comfortable environment for all people. Students with learning disabilities are responsible for contacting admissions at the school to request assistance.
Therefore, please make a request for the services you believe you need.
